Cabinet Collection

a curious collection

Remember those adventure movies where at some point, the characters enter a room filled with books, statues, masks on the walls, animals on display, and other curiosities? And then talk about a precious item that they need to find?
Or the owner of the house shows them his curious collection while eagerly talking about an item that he’s missing?
That’s what inspired my Cabinet Collection!

Insects encased in amber, bones, claws, mysterious crystals, and other props you can find here. All of them are handmade with care and for you to use as a display piece for your own cabinet of curiosities.

Fossilized tree resin, called Amber has always been
a fascinating gem throughout history.
A key point for a well-known movie called Jurassic Park
was the orange amber with a trapped mosquito.

Amber is known as an orange-colored stone that has insects preserved inside. But there have been cataloged more than 300 colors, including green and blue. A fossilized resin that’s multiple millions of years old and is very valuable. The classic orange color that got famous after Jurassic Park aired, fascinated me and stuck to this day.

While real amber is nothing else than fossilized tree resin, I’m only able to copy the look of amber. Therefore, I use epoxy resin to make my amber eggs. In my workshop, I sometimes have various insects waiting to be encased in faux amber, and on a lucky day, a cranefly finds its way into my workshop!
